Karel Mengelberg
Karel Willem Joseph Mengelberg (18 July 1902, Utrecht – 11 July 1984, Amsterdam) was a Dutch composer and conductor. He was the father of composer and pianist Misha Mengelberg. He worked in Berlin, Barcelona, Kiev and Amsterdam. Notable work is 'Catalunya Renaixent', written for the Banda Municipal of Barcelona in 1934. This score uses 3 xirimias, traditional Catalonian shawms.
