KCG College of Technology is an Engineering college in Karapakkam, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. It was founded in 1998 to fulfill the Founder-Chairman, Dr.K.C.G. Verghese's vision of "making every man a success and no man a failure".

History

KCG College of Technology was founded in 1998, It is a Christian minority institution, affiliated to Anna University, Chennai and approved by AICTE, New Delhi. KCG College of Technology, formerly known as National Institute of Technology and Science is approved by the AICTE, Government of India, New Delhi and Govt. of Tamil Nadu. The College has been certified as an ISO 9001:2000 Institution.[1]

Campus Location

The College is located at Karapakkam, about 8 kilometers from Adyar (South Chennai) on the Old Mahabalipuram Road (IT Highway). The lush green campus, spread over a stretch of nearly 50 acres on the banks of a picturesque lake, provides an idyllic setting that is conducive to scholastic achievement.

Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship

KCG understands the value of empowering its student community with tools and opportunities that augment skills that is vital today. Innovation and Entrepreneurship go hand-in-hand in scaling core competence, building a nation's economy and pursuing dreams.

i-Cell and e-Cell were established on May 6, 2009 to guide and encourage students to take up projects that evolve with new, fresh ideas and challenge conventional boundaries through their creativity.

Innovation-Cell (i-Cell)

The College has an active Innovative-Cell (I-Cell) which gives the students an excellent platform to put forward their innovative ideas. This cell conducts various training programmes to transform the staff and students’ ideas into a new product/process. It guides the innovators to protect their ideas through patents. This provides an opportunity study of economics, business, entrepreneurship, design, technology, sociology, and engineering. It is a place for people to change the way they make decisions, they must choose to do things differently, make choices outside of their norm.

Entrepreneurship Cell (e-Cell)

Some of the start-ups that have incubated from KCG's E-cell are enchanter.in, a student self-learning initiative run for and by students, & webdefy.org, a design studio which churns out designs for logos, brochures, websites & web applications.

MOU's

KCG College of Technology has entered into a number of Industry-Institution partnerships through Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with various foreign governments and organizations for training, technical collaboration and consultancy.

Sports Facilities

The Institution has excellent playgrounds and facilities for Basketball, Football, Hockey, Volleyball, Cricket and Badminton. Students regularly participate in zonal and intercollegiate competitions and win laurels. Football, cricket, squash, hockey, volleyball and tennis are some of the games at which the college shines in various competitions. Students from the college also represent university team.

Hostel Facilities

All the hostels are provided with dining halls, uninterrupted water supply, reading halls, round the clock STD, ISD booths, Internet connection, indoor recreation, television, and round the clock medical facility. Vehicles are arranged for inmates to visit the city on Sundays and other holidays.

The hostel facilities help students feel at home and enable them to pursue their studies in a peaceful and comfortable atmosphere. The library is open till 5 p.m. everyday and book exhibitions are conducted in the campus. Internet Lab services are available till midnight and the canteen is open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

HYLC 2015

KCG College of Technology will be hosting HYLC [2] in collaboration with EuroMUN, the largest MUN Conference in Europe and the United Nations Information Centre India and Bhutan.

KCG Connect

KCG Connect is the alumni association of KCG College of Technology. Formally inaugurated on 15 August 2014, the association aims to help the alumni reconnect with their friends from college and also with the college itself. In addition, the association has been formed in the hopes that current students of the college will also be able to benefit from industry connections that can be established through the alumni
