John Moorhead

John Moorhead (born 1948) is the McCaughey professor of history (specializing in late antiquity and the early Middle Ages) at the University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia.

Moorhead is best known for his The Roman Empire Divided 400-700, which deals with the barbarian invasions of that time. He is also fond of Pope Gregory the Great (whom he often describes as "my favourite Pope") and the teaching of Latin, in which he claims to "finally have something in common with the Venerable Bede". His work with religious sources of the period has also led to an association with the university's Islamic Studies program, in which he lectures in "Christians, Muslims and Jews in the Middle Ages".
