John Longworth (businessman)

John Longworth is a British businessman, and was the Director-General of the British Chambers of Commerce from September 2011 until March 2016 .

John Longworth was educated at Smithills Moor Grammar School, Bolton, followed by bachelor's and master's degrees in science from Salford University.[1][2]

He has been a main board director at Asda, Tesco and CWS.[2]

In March 2016, he became the first leader of a major business group to back a Brexit.[3] Mr Longworth resigned from the BCC on 6 March 2016 after being suspended for breaching the BCC's policy of neutrality on Brexit [4][5]
