History

Joe Beef was established in late 2005 as a 30-seat restaurant. It expanded to 75 seats in 2011 as a result of the popularity of the restaurant.[1] The restaurant was named in honour of Joe Beef, an Irish-born Montreal tavern owner in the 19th century.

Reception

Celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain visited Joe Beef restaurant in his program, Anthony Bourdain: Part's Unknown, Season 1, Episode 5, "Quebec".[2]

New York chef David Chang considers Joe Beef to be his favourite restaurant.[3]
