James Rowan Chatterton "Jim" Dickson (born 1964) is a Labour Councillor for Herne Hill on Lambeth Council, London, United Kingdom (UK), where he also serves as Cabinet Member for Health and Well Being,^[1] having previously been the Council's Cabinet Member for Finance and also its Leader.

Whilst he generally goes by the shorter Jim Dickson his full name is . He was educated at the public school Wellington College, as a result of being a child of a serving Royal Navy Officer, and Cambridge University where he read Social and Political Sciences. Whilst at Cambridge he was elected as Chair of the Cambridge University Labour Club. He is listed in Burke's Irish Family Records and his great great grand father was Major General Sir George Arthur French, first commissioner of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. His brother is the UK Consul General to Chicago, Robert Chatterton Dickson.^[2]

At the 2001 General Election he was Labour's candidate^[3] in Old Bexley and Sidcup.

Politically he is identified with the right wing of the Labour Party and was leading Lambeth's Labour Group when it was described as "more New Labour than New Labour" by then Prime Minister, Tony Blair.^[4]

He is employed by the consultancy firm Four Communications as Politics Director.^[5]
