Jim Bales (born September 12, 1956) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey goaltender. He was selected by the St. Louis Blues in the 13th round (132nd overall) of the 1976 NHL Amateur Draft.

Drafted out of the University of Denver, Bales played fours seasons in the professional minor leagues. In his final season, Bales was a member of the Hampton Roads Gulls of the Atlantic Coast Hockey League. The Road Gulls folded on February 2, 1983,[1] and Bales finished the season with the Carolina Thunderbirds before retiring following the 1982-83 season.
