Jean Ballard (1893-1973) was a French poet, author and editor.
Early life
Jean Ballard was born on November 14, 1893 in Marseille, France.[1] He grew upin Marseille and passed his Baccalaureate, specialising in mathematics.[2]
Career
Ballard began his writing career with Fortunio, a literary review founded by author Marcel Pagnol.[2] He was the founder and editor of Les Cahiers du Sud from 1925 to 1966.[2][3]

Death and legacy
Ballard died on June 18, 1973 in his hometown of Marseille.[1][3] He was 79 years old.[3] The Cours Jean Ballard in the 1st arrondissement of Marseille was named in his honour.
