Jasons is a provider of travel information in New Zealand, Australia and the South Pacific. It designs and prints over 60 publications (over 6.5 million copies) and distributes over 10 million brochures per year through the largest brochure distribution network in New Zealand. The company also owns multiple travel websites with online booking for accommodation, activities, campervans and car rentals in New Zealand and around the world.[1]

History

Starting as a family business in 1967 by John Sanford, Jason Publishing Co Ltd was formed and then renamed to Jasons Travel Media in 2000. Its former CEO was Steven Joyce who is the current Minister of Economic Development, Minister of Science and Innovation, Minister for Tertiary Education, Skills and Employment and Associate Minister of Finance in New Zealand .[2] In 2005, it was successfully listed on the New Zealand Stock Exchange.[3]

Print Publications

Jasons produces 62 free travel guides annually,[4] by producing New Zealand, Australian and South Pacific publications. Jasons New Zealand print products extend to accommodation, activities and leisure publications, five New Zealand regional What's On guides plus dining guides.

Online

The company launched the Jasons Travel Channel™ (www.jasons.co.nz) in mid 1996. Since then, they have extended to also own Holidayguide.co.nz, dutymotel.co.nz, and roomsearch.co.nz. In late 2011 and early 2012 the Jasons iPhone and iPad apps were launched, with over 7,000 users downloading them.[5]

Distribution

The brochure distribution network serves 4000 locations across New Zealand.[1] The network distributes millions of brochures a year for more than 1000 tourism companies.[1]
