James Cornelius van Miltenburg O.F.M. (14 September 1909, Harmelen, Netherlands - 10 March 1966)[1] was the first Archbishop of Karachi, Pakistan from 1950 to 1958.[2] He was also the Holy See's representative to the Pakistani government during this period.

He was ordained a Priest of the Order of Friars Minor on 31 Mar 1935. On 20 May 1948 he was appointed Bishop of Karachi. He was ordained Bishop on 3 Oct 1948. On 15 Jul 1950 he was appointed Archbishop of Karachi. [3] When Fr. Joseph Cordeiro was appointed Archbishop of Karachi in 1958, he became Bishop of Hyderabad in Pakistan. He was also a Council Father at four sessions of the Second Vatican Council.[4]
