The JUSCANZ (/ˈdʒʌskænz/ or /ˈdʒuːskænz/) group is a consultative body to the UN Human Rights Council and some other United Nations bodies. Its membership includes Australia, Canada, Iceland, Israel, Japan, Liechtenstein, New Zealand, Norway, Switzerland, and the United States.[1] Its name is derived from an acronym of the founding members. In UNFCCC negotiations, it is also called the Umbrella Group.[2][3][4]

Its aim is to counterbalance the sway of the European Union bloc. In January, 2010, Israel was permitted to join the group for sessions in the UN Office at Geneva, but neither at the UN Headquarters in New York, nor at the other two major office sites of Vienna and Nairobi.[5]
