Irene Montalà is a Spanish actress born in the district of Nou Barris from Barcelona. She is the daughter of Mercè Montalà. She has studies of interpretation with Txiki Berrando and Manuel Lillo. She has also got studies of dancing and singing.Her mother tongues are Sus idiomas maternos son el Spanish and catalan, although she has also studied aunque también ha estudiado English and french.She started as an actress in series like Poblenou (TV3). In 2001 she made the film Fausto 5.0. In 2002 she participated in the series ''Por Palabras'' like Barbara which in the end it wasn't finished. In 2004 she appeared in an episodic way in the series Cuéntame como pasó (La 1), where she played the role of Mila. Three years later she returned to television with the series of Telecinco Cientific RIS, which wasn't renew it because of the public indexes. And in También en Mar de Fons (TV3 – 2006/2007), where she played the role of Judith, the, the "evil" of the serie. Entre otras.

But where Irene became famous was in the El Internado, The successful mysterious serie of Antena 3, in the year 2009.She played the role of Rebeca, a teacher that in the beginning seemed a calm person, but in fact she was una caza-nazis.Her role was based in the action and movements in a beautiful relationship with Martin (Ismael Martínez, who had also participated with in Cientific RIS). In 2010 the serie and her role finished.

She has also worked in theatre plays. And some of them are: Primera Plana, Fedra, Lulú or El Criat.

Her extend career as an actress was recognised in 2004 with the Award "Cartelera Turia a la Actriz Revelación" for Nubes de verano. From 2010 to 2013 she took part in the series El Barco for the private channel Antena 3 with the role of Julia Wilson, a scientist that works for the ECND (Alejandria project) a secret project that consists in the survival of the specie. Her role is based on the doctor of the "Estrella Polar" and her comings and goings with Ricardo Montero, the Captain of "Estrella Polar" (Juanjo Artero) and with Ulises Garmendia (Mario Casas) apart from her enmity with Gamboa (Juan Pablo Shuk). In 2013 she released the film Alpha based in real facts, and she plays the role of Sonia. En 2015 she released the film Perdona si te llamo amor and the series "Hermanos", of Telecinco.
