International College Spain is an international school in La Moraleja, Alcobendas, Community of Madrid, Spain.

It is the only school in the Madrid metropolitan area to offer the full International Baccalaureate Programme in English. International College Spain is a day school, offering both primary and secondary education to children from 3 to 18 years of age within an international community of over 50 different nationalities.

History

International College Spain was founded by Manouchehr Farhangi in 1980. Since its founding over 30 years ago, it has grown to become one of the leading international schools in Spain. It is now part of the Nord Anglia Education Group, the only school of the group in Spain.

Philosophy

The philosophy of the school is to provide students with a high quality international education which places a strong emphasis on fostering respect for the world´s nations and cultures. This is achieved through provision of a challenging curriculum which develops critical, principled thinking within a positive learning environment and which addresses the students´ academic, social, emotional, physical, technological, aesthetic and moral needs. The school promotes an active interest in learning, enabling students to acquire the skills, attitudes and qualifications necessary for them to become successful, responsible citizens.

Curriculum

International College Spain, authorized by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) follows the complete IB Curriculum from PYP, to MYP and, finally, the IB Diploma programme. The language of instruction in all classes is English, with the exception of foreign language classes which are taught in their corresponding languages.

Enrollment and Student Profile

International College Spain currently has 700 students enrolled at the school, from over 56 different nationalities. The school serves from Kindergarten 3 (3 years old) to Grade 12.

Admissions

International College Spain attracts children from both local and international communities. Although most students join the school at the beginning of the year, there is a rolling admissions process depending on availability of places.

Accreditations and Associations

International College Spain is accredited by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO), Council of International Schools (CIS), New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), and the Spanish Ministry of Education. It is also a member of the Mediterranean Association of International Schools (MAIS) .[1]

Student Accomplishments

A team of students from International College Spain has been the winner of the ECB competition two out of three years of participation, coming in second the other year.[2]
