Institute of Sales and Marketing Management

The Institute of Sales & Marketing Management (ISMM) is a professional body with around 5,000 registered members and training around 2,160 students each year. The ISMM exists to promote the prestige and integrity of selling by inspiring those employed in the industry to reach greater heights of achievement by providing education, guidance, information and encouragement.[1]

History

The ISMM was first established in 1911 as the Sales Managers Association. It was subsequently taken over by Sheila Watson-Challis, who was best known for establishing the Blue Arrow recruitment agency, and who owns the company to this day.

BESMA

The ISMM is well known for hosting BESMA (British Excellence in Sales & Marketing Awards) an event designed to recognize outstanding sales professionals. Recent winners have included Virgin Media and Ellis Salsby.[2]
