Holme Wood is a housing estate in Bradford, West Yorkshire, England. It borders Tyersal. It is the birthplace of actresses Sophie McShera[1] and Jennifer Metcalfe.[2] The estate is managed by Incommunities and Bradford Council. It is also one of the largest former council estate in Europe. The estate is situated off Wakefield Road in the south-east of the city.

Etymology

Holme Church

This Holme, unlike others with the same place-name, is not from Old Norse holmr (island) but may be from Old English holegn (holly tree).
