Hermann Breymann

Hermann Wilhelm Breymann (3 July 1842 – 6 September 1910) was a German philologist and pedagogue.

Biography

Breymann was born in Oker. He studied languages at Göttingen, Bonn, Marburg and Paris; lived in Manchester and London 1867-75; in the latter year was appointed professor of French and English in the University of Munich,[1] and came to be recognized as one of the leading authorities on educational questions in relation to modern languages.

He died in Bad Reichenhall, aged 68.

Literary work

From 1890 he was editor of the Münchener Beiträge zur romanischen und englischen Philologie ("Munich contributions to Romance and English philology"). He is the author of:
