Henry Savage (Dean of Lichfield)

The Very Rev Henry Edwin Savage (1855^[1] or 1 September 1854^[2] - 19 April 1939) was an eminent Anglican priest in the first half of the 20th century.^[3]

He was educated at Haileybury and Christ's College, Cambridge.^[2] After this he was elected a Fellow of Corpus Christi College, Cambridge and ordained in 1878.^[4] He began his career with a curacy at St Luke’s, New Chesterton^[5] and was then Chaplain to the Bishop of Durham. Later he held incumbencies at Pelton, West Hartlepool and South Shields^[6] before his elevation in 1909 to the Deanery of Lichfield Cathedral.^[7] He died on 19 April 1939.^[8] There is a memorial to him within the cathedral.^[9]
