Heidar Shonjani also spelled Haydar Shonjani (Persian: حیدر شنجانی, born 1945 Bandar-e Anzali), was an Iranian swimmer and water polo player.[1][2] The first official international tournament in which he participated as a member of Iran national swimming team; in the men's 100 meters freestyle, was the 1964 Summer Olympics, where he became the first Iranian swimmer to participate in the Summer Olympics.[3] Shonjani was a member of Iran national water-polo team participating in the 1974 Asian Games in Tehran where he won the gold medal, defeating the Chinese national water-polo team in the final. He also participated in the 1976 Summer Olympics as a member of Iran national water-polo team.[4][5][6]
