Harlequin Air Co., Ltd. (ハーレクィンエア Hārekuin Ea) was an airline with its headquarters on the grounds of Fukuoka Airport in Hakata-ku, Fukuoka, Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan.[1][2] It was owned by Japan Airlines (JAL) Domestic and operated domestic passenger services. It ceased operations in April 2005 due to restructuring of JAL Group.

The scheduled flights were wholly sold by Japan Airlines therefore no ticket carried JH. Essentially Japan Airlines wet leased them.

History

The airline was established on January 20, 1997 and started operations on December 19, 1997; it was an affiliate of Japan Air System.[3] Japan Airlines later absorbed Japan Air System;[4] Harlequin has been integrated into the parent company, Japan Airlines.

Services

Harlequin Air operated services from Fukuoka Airport to Chubu Centrair International Airport near Nagoya and New Chitose Airport near Sapporo. It also operated international charter flights.

Fleet

Harlequin Air had at least 1 McDonnell Douglas MD-81 and 1 McDonnell Douglas DC-10 in its own livery.
