Hail To The King: 60 Years of Destruction is a 2015 documentary film about the Godzilla film series.

Development

It was directed by Kyle Yount, who hosts a Godzilla-themed radio show. The film was made to commemorate Godzilla's 60th anniversary. It was successfully funded via Kickstarter, ending its campaign with a total of $19,435 from 239 backers, which exceeded all of its stretch goals. The main portion of the film was shot in Japan, with several cast members from the Godzilla franchise making appearances.[1]

After the initial round of filming had ended and the editing process had begun, the crew returned to Japan to shoot even more footage, this time focusing on interviews.[2]

It was originally scheduled to be released on November 3, 2014, to mark Godzilla's 60th anniversary, but production issues forced it to be delayed.[3] The first trailer was released on 5 Dec 2014.[4]

The film was eventually released online on 11 July 2015.[5]
