Haaren High School

Haaren High School was an American high school located in Midtown Manhattan, New York. The school was noted for its vocational program including internal combustion engines.[1] It stood on the former site of DeWitt Clinton High School,[2] until it was shut down in the late 1970s.[2] The building is now being used by John Jay College.[3]

David graduated from Haaren High School in 1940 with only fair grades. He attended Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute, but flunked out.

A New Yorker of Finnish descent, Mr. Salmi grew up in the Bay Ridge section of Brooklyn and attended Haaren High School in Manhattan, where he studied aviation mechanics.
