Guillermo Romo is the President & CEO at Grupo Mega, one of Mexico’s leading businesses offering financial solutions for business sectors. Romo is also the former owner of Grupo Industrial Herradura, S.A. de C.V. (Casa Herradura) which he sold to Brown-Forman Corp., the maker of Jack Daniel's whiskey for $876 million.[1] He was the sixth-generation in his family to own and run the business. In January 2007, Brown Forman purchased a substantial portion of Herradura’s 136-year-old company's related assets. Romo retained control over Herradura’s agricultural lands and a production; he remains the contracted supplier of Herradura’s raw materials.

Career

Romo has devoted much of his career to diversifying his family’s assets, particularly into the financial industry. He is currently a majority stakeholder in Grupo Mega, one of Mexico’s business leaders offering comprehensive and varied financial solutions for those business sectors that have not found an adequate response from existing financial systems. He is a majority stakeholder in Millesime, a private investment company, additionally; he is a shareholder in the Miami-based broker-dealer Global Securities, which has a strong Latin American presence through its regional broker-dealers.

Philanthropy

Guillermo Romo is a founding member of the Americas Business Council Foundation (ABC), which aims to address important issues facing the Americas through idea-sharing platforms that serve to positively influence the next generation of leaders. Within the ABC Foundation, Romo is the head of the ABC Fellows, an initiative that brings together twenty of the Western Hemisphere’s most innovative leaders - under the age of forty – with the goal of tackling today’s pressing political, environmental, religious and economic issues.

Romo currently serves on the Board of Directors of Endeavor Mexico. Endeavor, an international non-profit development organization that finds and supports high-impact entrepreneurs in emerging markets.

As a successful, young entrepreneur, Romo is dedicated to promoting transparent and honest business practices.
