Government Engineering College-Rewa is an engineering college established by the state government at Rewa in Madhya Pradesh (MP), India.[1]

Rewa Engineering College, Rewa established in 1964 has blossomed into a pioneer technical education center in Vindhya region of Madhya Pradesh. The institute is located in serene atmosphere of 250 Acres land of environment friendly campus.[2] The institute offers four bachelor's degree programmes in civil (60), mechanical (60), electrical (40) and electronics and telecommunication (60) engineering with total 220 intake. The institute also offers the part-time degree programme in second shift for diploma holder field engineers in civil (20), mechanical (20) and electrical engineering branch (20) with total intake of 60.[3] Here largest college campus

History

Declared as an autonomous society by the Government in 1998 with a board of governors to look after its affairs with the Minister (Department of Technical Education) as its chairman. The institute was affiliated to Awadhesh Pratap Singh University, Rewa, till 2000 afterwards got affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. Institute at first was set up in the present Model Science college building with Prof. S.R. Beedkar as founder Principal, later it was shifted to Government B.Ed College building. In 1972 it was shifted to its present campus spread in about 250 acres (1.0 km2). The first batch was started with 120 students in the branches of Civil, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering. In 1984 Electronics engineering branch was started with a 20 student intake. In 1980 a B.E. (transfer course) was introduced in civil, mechanical and electrical with 20-intake capacity in each branch to facilitate the diploma holder students graduate. For providing higher education opportunities to serving diploma holder engineers a part-time B.E. Degree course was introduced in 1988 with 20 students in each intake capacity in civil, mechanical and electrical branches.

Campus

Rewa Engineering College has a campus area of 250 acres (1.0 km2) divided between two of its division each on the either side of University road for the Academic building and Professor's colony almost equally. Academic division hosts main academic building consisting of civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and electronics engineering departments along with offices of principal, heads of departments and subordinates. Classes for poly technique courses have started, but classes are held in the morning shift, as there is no separate building for it.
