Gerald Online is an online jewellery retail store run in collaboration with Gerald Ratner and a Mumbai-based jewelry export company, SB&T International Ltd.[1][2] Gerald Ratner, the jeweller, partnered with an Indian jewellery manufacturer to import its jewellery in the UK.

History

Gerald Ratner started his jewellery business in 1984 and sold jewellery at highly competitive prices. Hence, his jewellery shop became popular among the working-class. After establishing the jewellery business in 1991, Gerald Ratner actually experienced the worst incident that any businessman would dread.[3] Gerald Ratner had shared an ill-advised joke in a lunchtime speech at the annual conference of the institute of Directors at the Royal Albert Hall that caused the downfall of the jewellery brand Ratners.[4]

Ratner refurbished his jewellery business and re-registered his company under the name of ‘Signet Group’. In the year 2003 Gerald Ratner decided to go online with the name of Gerald Online and united[5] with SB&T - Mumbai based jewelery Export Company.[6]

Operations

Gerald Online sells jewellery directly from its factory, claiming that this results in lower prices. Gerald Ratner along with SB&T has entered the Indian market under the name of Gerald Online India.[7]
