Friends of Zion Museum

The Friends of Zion Heritage Center[1] is located in the Jerusalem World Center in the city of Jerusalem within walking distance of the Old City. The museum is dedicated to honoring the Jewish people and those who diligently labored to protect them from persecution and to help them create and establish the nation of Israel.[2] The museum is directly across the street from the Simon Wiesenthal Center’s Museum of Tolerance and Center for Human Dignity. The museum opened its doors to the public in 2015.

Exhibits[3]

The Promise Theatre features an introductory video presentation from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The Valley of Dry Bones and the Hall of Dreamers portray the prophet Ezekiel's vision of the dry bones coming to life, taking visitors through the experience of the Diaspora, other prophetic Scriptures that relate to the rebirth of Israel, and the stories of influential Christian Zionists.

The Visionaries of the Promise tells the stories of leaders who shared Theodor Herzl's vision of Der Judenstaat ("The Jewish State"), who lent their support and helped to lay the foundation for the establishment of the State of Israel.

The Military Heroes exhibit introduces visitors to military and political leaders who acted on behalf of the Jewish people to make the vision of an independent state a reality. The inspiring story of the Machal, the oversees contingent who fought as part of the Israeli army during the 1948 War of Independence, is included in this exhibit.

The Christian Heroes exhibit focuses on ordinary Christian men and women who, because of their faith, took extraordinary, and often heroic, action to save the lives of Jews during the Holocaust under the Nazi regime during World War II.

Technology

The latest in holographic and animatronic technology adds a dynamic dimension to the learning experience. An elevator ride doubles as a time machine that takes visitors up and down the timeline of Jewish history from Abraham to the Diaspora. Each state-of-the-art, multi-media exhibit is available in a variety of languages. A recording booth is available for visitors to leave an audio recording of their impressions of their visit.

The Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees is chaired by Yossi Peled and is composed of Israeli and international leaders.
