Fontenelle is a census-designated place (CDP) in Lincoln County, Wyoming, United States. The population was 13 at the 2010 census.

Geography

Fontenelle is located at 41°59′24″N 110°3′12″W / 41.99000°N 110.05333°W / 41.99000; -110.05333 (41.990006, 110.053420).[4]

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 3.6 square miles (9.3 km²), of which, 3.5 square miles (8.9 km²) of it is land and 0.1 square miles (0.4 km²) of it (3.90%) is water.

Demographics

As of the census[2] of 2000, there were 19 people, 5 households, and 5 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 5.5 people per square mile (2.1/km²). There were 8 housing units at an average density of 2.3/sq mi (0.9/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 100.00% White.

Climate

Fontenelle experiences a semi-arid climate with short, warm summers and cold, long winters. Due to Fontenelle's high elevation and aridity, temperatures drop sharply after sunset. Nighttime temperatures in the summer are cool, and can even drop below freezing. Winter highs are usually freezing cold, and winter nights are often bitterly cold, with temperatures dropping below zero.
