Flagstaff Mall is a regional shopping mall located in Flagstaff, Arizona, is operated by Woodmont Company. The mall opened in 1979, and is anchored by Dillard's, JCPenney, and Sears.[1] Mall property also encompasses The Marketplace, an outdoor power center with big-box retailers The Home Depot, Best Buy, Cost Plus World Market, and Old Navy.

History

Flagstaff Mall opened in 1979, developed by Phoenix-based real estate company Westcor.[2] The mall's original anchors JCPenney and Sears had previously existed in downtown Flagstaff, but had moved to anchor the mall at opening. Dillard's joined the mall in 1986.[3] The property remained the same until 2005, when ground was broken on The Marketplace, an outdoor addition to the mall.[4] Phase one of the expansion, anchored by The Home Depot and featuring seven big-box retailers, opened in October 2008.[5] A planned phase two, consisting of an outdoor lifestyle center anchored by a Harkins Theatres multiplex, never materialized.[6]

In late May 2015, a new 16-screen Harkins Theaters broke ground adjacent to The Marketplace that will replace the chain's existing 11-screen theater near Milton Road and University Drive near downtown Flagstaff. The new theater is set to open on November 17, 2016. The last showings at the Harkins Flagstaff 11 theater are set to occur on November 13, 2016.
