History

In the mid to late 1990s Internet websites such as StepStone Online and Eiendomsnett took over much of the classified market in Norway, which affected the revenue of the regional newspapers. As a result, the regional newspapers formed an alliance and established a website for classified advertisements named "vis@avisen". This was mainly a technical collaboration that was created to offer their existing customers an Internet solution.

The regional newspapers found "vis@visen" to be unsuccessful and therefore decided to establish a separate company for classified ads – Finn.no AS. The company was launched on 20 March 2000. The company soon had tremendous growth as there were few similar players in the market.
