European Academy of Neurology

The European Academy of Neurology (EAN) is a non-profit organisation that unites and supports neurologists across the whole of Europe. Currently, 45 European national neurological societies as well as 800 individuals are registered members of the EAN. Thus, the EAN represents more than 20,000 European neurologists.

The EAN was founded during the Joint Congress of European Neurology in June 2014 by the former European Federation of Neurological Societies (EFNS) and European Neurological Society (ENS). The current president of the EAN is Professor Günther Deuschl (Kiel, Germany).[1]

The EAN Head Office is situated in Vienna, Austria.[2]

One of the main duties of the EAN is to organise the annual congress of European neurology, which is always held in different European cities and welcomes approximately 6000 participants from all over the world. In 2014, the congress took place in Istanbul, Turkey. The 2015 congress will be held in Berlin, Germany.
