Summer Olympics appearances (overview)

Equatorial Guinea competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 5 to 21 August 2016. This was the nation's ninth consecutive appearance at the Summer Olympics.

The Equatoguinean team featured two track and field athletes returning from London 2012: middle-distance runner Benjamin Enzema (men's 800 m) and former French hurdler Reïna-Flor Okori (women's 100 m hurdles), who was selected to carry the nation's flag in the opening ceremony.[1] Equatorial Guinea, however, has yet to win its first Olympic medal, as neither of the athletes passed the first round of their respective sporting events.

Athletics (track and field)

Equatorial Guinea has received universality slots from IAAF to send two athletes (one male and one female) to the Olympics.[2][3][4]
