Elgin Reid (born February 23, 1987) was a professional ice hockey defenceman who finished his career playing with the Brampton Beast of the ECHL.

Playing career

Reid's professional career saw him primarily in the ECHL, where he began playing with the Elmira Jackals in 2007. After one season with the Jackals, Reid was traded to the Wheeling Nailers for forward Steve McJannet.[1] Reid attended the Pittsburgh Penguins' rookie camp in 2008[2] before being returned to their ECHL affiliate in Wheeling for the 2008-09 ECHL season. He led all Nailers defensemen with 13 goals and earned a spot in the ECHL All-Star game.[3]

After one season with the Nailers, Reid signed with the Florida Everblades for the 2009–10 season. During the season, he was called up to the Albany River Rats of the American Hockey League for 9 games. He remained with the Everblades during the 2010-11 season, but missed the majority of the season due to injuries.

During the 2011–12 season, he spent time with the Kalamazoo Wings and was recalled by the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League. After three seasons with the Wings, including the 2013–14 season, as team captain, Reid left as a free agent and in order to move closer to home, signed a one-year contract with fellow ECHL club, the Brampton Beast on October 7, 2014.[4]
