Edmund Janniger (born 30 December 1995) is a Polish political analyst who briefly served as Advisor to the Minister of National Defence of Poland in 2015.[1] He holds the record for being the youngest ministerial advisor in Poland’s history.[2][3]
Biography
A child of university professors Robert A. Schwartz and Camila Krysicka, Janniger conducted medical research in his teenage years, coauthoring six academic papers along with his father,[4] and worked for several international nongovernmental organizations. He initially wanted to become a physician, but later decided to engage in politics.[3]
Prior to nomination, Janniger worked with Antoni Macierewicz for around three years, including as his as legislative assistant and Deputy Chief of Staff.[5][6][7] During the 2015 Polish parliamentary election, Janniger served as the Deputy Campaign Manager for Law and Justice in the 10th Electoral District.[8][9]

On 24 November 2015, Janniger was appointed as Advisor to the Minister of National Defence, Antoni Macierewicz.[10][11] His responsibilities included managing the Minister's online presence. The appointment of such a relatively young and inexperienced person to the post met with support of the media sympathetic to the newly elected government and with criticism from the opposition.[12]
He held the post for two weeks, until 8 December 2015, when he returned to the US.[13] Janniger then became the President of the Institute of Global Affairs, a New York City-based membership organization and think tank which he founded.[14][15]
