Downbound / Upbound

Downbound - A direction a vessel is moving while in the Great Lakes region, headed towards the Atlantic Ocean. The St. Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation uses term for eastward movements of cargo.[1] The U.S. Coast Guard uses the term for vessels following the current.[2] Upbound describes a vessel moving in the opposite direction.[1][2] An "upbound" vessel is heading away from the Atlantic Ocean.
