Domkol subdivision is a subdivision of the Murshidabad district in the state of West Bengal, India, was founded on 14 December 1999. It consists of Dhulian municipality and four community development blocks: Domkol, RaninagarI, RaninagarII and Jalangi. The four blocks contain 38 gram panchayats and one census town. The subdivision has its headquarters at Domkol.

Area

Apart from the Dhulian municipality, the subdivision contains one census town and rural areas of 38 gram panchayats under four community development blocks: Domkol, RaninagarI, RaninagarII and Jalangi.[1] There are two census towns namely: Harharia Chak and Islampur both under Islampur police station.[2]

Blocks

Domkal block

Rural area under Domkal block consists of 13 gram panchayats, viz. Ajimganjgola, Garaimari, Juginda, Sarangpur, Bhagirathpur, Garibpur, Juranpur, Dhulauri, Ghoramara, Madhurkul, Domkal, Jitpur and Raipur.[1] There is no urban area under this block.[2] Domkol police station serves this block.[3] Headquarters of this block is in Domkol.[4]

RaninagarI block

Rural area under RaninagarI block consists of six gram panchayats, viz. Herampur, Islampurchak, Paharpur, Hurshi, Lochanpur and Tenkaraipur Balumati.[1] Urban area under this block consists of two census town: Harharia Chak and Islampur.[2] Islampur police station serves this block.[3] Headquarters of this block is in Goas.[4]

RaninagarII block

Rural area under RaninagarII block consists of nine gram panchayats, viz. KalinagarI, KatlamariII, Rajapur, KalinagarII, MalibariI, RaninagarI, KatlamariI, MalibariII and RaninagarII.[1] There is no urban area under this block.[2] Raninagar police station serves this block.[3] Headquarters of this block is in Raninagar.

Jalangi block

Rural area under Jalangi block consists of ten gram panchayats, viz. Choapara, Ghoshpara, Khayramari, Sahebnagar, Debipur, Jalangi, Sadikhanderah, Faridpur, Katabari and Sagarpara.[1] There is no urban area under this block.[2] Jalangi police station serves this block.[3] Headquarters of this block is in Sahebrampur.[4]

Legislative segments

As per order of the Delimitation Commission in respect of the delimitation of constituencies in West Bengal, the Dhulian municipality will be part of the Samserganj assembly constituency of West Bengal. The RaninagarI block, the Dhulauri gram panchayat under the Domkol block, and five gram panchayats under the RaninagarII block, viz. KalinagarI, KalinagarII, MalibariI, MalibariII and RaninagarI, will constitute the Raninagar assembly constituency. The other twelve gram panchayats under the Domkol block will form the Domkal assembly constituency. The Jalangi block and four gram panchayats under the RaninagarII block, viz. KatlamariII, Rajapur, KatlamariI and RaninagarII, will form the Jalangi assembly constituency. Samserganj assembly constituency will be part of the Maldaha Dakshin (Lok Sabha constituency), whereas Domkal, Jalangi and Raninagar constituencies will be part of the Murshidabad (Lok Sabha constituency).[5]
