Doddavaram is located in the Maddipadu Mandal of Prakasam District in Andhra Pradesh, India.[1] It is said that this village was known as Veera Narasimha Puri Agraharam during the reign of Addanki rulers.

Later on, the village is called as Doddavaram after Doddareddy, 3rd son of the Addanki ruler Komati Vemareddy. Komati Venkareddy's five sons are Kumarayya, Vemayya, Doddayya, Annamayya and Mallaya. Neighboruing villages Vellampalli and Mallavaram are named after Vemayya and Mallayya.[2]

The village gave birth to many artists. The most famous among these is Banumati, a noted film actress, director, music director, singer, and songwriter. Her father Bommaraju Venkata Subbaiah is also a renowned stage-artist and a classical singer.
