Djavan da Silva Ferreira (born 31 December 1987), known simply as Djavan, is a Brazilian professional footballer who plays as full back for Portuguese club Braga.

Club career

Born in Serrinha in the Brazilian state of Bahia, Djavan early career was mainly spent in the Brazilian lower leagues, joining Corithians Alagoano in 2013; who immediately loaned him to CRB, where he would make two caps in the third tier.

On 11 July 2013, Corithians Alagoano loaned him a second time, now to the Portuguese side, Académica.[1] He debuted on 18 August 2013, in an away loss to Gil Vicente,[2] and would rack up nearly 30 caps throughout the season, earning the interest of Benfica, which later signed him, on a four-year deal, on 7 June 2014.[3][4]

On 2 August 2014, without ever representing Benfica, Djavan moved to Braga on a four-year contract for a €1 million transfer fee.[5][6] He made his debut on 13 September 2014 in an away loss to Arouca,[7] battling with Tiago Gomes for the position in his first season in Braga.

In the Taça de Portugal Final, Djavan won a penalty after an irregular tackle from Cédric Soares, which was converted by Éder for the first goal of the game, but Braga eventually lost to Sporting CP in a penalty shootout after a 2–2 draw in regular time.[8]
