Diego Ângelo de Oliveira, known as Diego Ângelo (born 17 February 1986), is a Brazilian professional footballer who plays for Antalyaspor in Turkey, as a central defender.

Club career

Brazil

Born in Anápolis, Goiás, Diego Ângelo started his professional career in São Paulo state with Santos FC. After signing a six-month contract in July 2005,[1] he penned a new one-year deal in January of the following year.[2]

On 1 March 2007 Ângelo left for Ituano Futebol Clube, signing a contract until 31 December.[3] He played in the season's São Paulo State League, as well as in the second national division: he started the opening match against Ceará Sporting Club on 12 May,[4] and scored a goal on 10 July in a 3–1 home win against Paulista Futebol Clube.[5]

Ângelo played his last match for Ituano on 28 August 2007, a 1–1 home draw against Marília Atlético Clube,[6] with his team ranking 20th and last.

On 30 August 2007, Diego Ângelo signed for Associação Naval 1º de Maio in Portugal.[7][8] He made his official debut on 30 September in a 0–2 loss at C.D. Nacional, and finished his first season with 22 games and four goals as the Figueira da Foz outfit managed to retain its top division status.

In 2009–10 Ângelo played all 30 league matches for Naval, who finished a best-ever eighth. During that season he also signed a pre-contract with Italian side Genoa CFC,[9] after the Serie A team agreed a fee with the Portuguese.[10]

Genoa and Eskişehirspor

On 19 May 2010, Diego was called up to Genoa's end-season training camp.[11][12] He made his club debut on the same day, a 2–1 friendly match with Prima Divisione team A.S. Lucchese Libertas 1905.[13]

On 12 August, however, he left for Turkish club Eskişehirspor on loan, with the Süper Lig club having an option to purchase him at the end of the campaign.[14] In late May 2011, the player was signed permanently to a two-year contract.[15]
