Dennis Unkovic (born March 28, 1948) American international attorney, speaker and business advisor best known for his books and commentary on international business. He is the chairman of Meritas, a global alliance of business law firms.[1]

Career

Unkovic is a partner at Meyer, Unkovic & Scott LLP, based in Pittsburgh. His work includes structuring and managing international business deals and partnerships. He also is heavily involved in intellectual property law and trade secret protection.[2] He speaks to business organizations, government officials and academic institutions worldwide about international topics.[3][4]

In the 1970s, Unkovic served as legislative director to former United States Senate Minority Leader Hugh D. Scott in Washington D.C. and as assistant counsel to the United States Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Patents, Trademarks and Copyrights.[5] He frequently appears in the media for his comments on international business and trade, including CNBC,[6] Chinese Central Television, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette,[7] and the Pittsburgh Business Times.[8][9]

Unkovic is a graduate of the University of Virginia and the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.

Writing

Unkovic is a well-known author of many business books and articles on international business.[10] In particular, his books focus on social strategies and negotiating tactics for dealing with international business partners, both for American audiences doing business abroad and for Asian business partners doing business in the United States.[11][12][13]
