Academic Achievements

In 2010, the school district was rated "Exemplary" by the Texas Education Agency for academic excellence in the 2009 - 2010 school year. With this rating, DISD gained a new title, becoming the first and only school district in Navarro County to ever be rated "Exemplary" for excellence in academics. In 2011, after losing the use of the Texas Projection Measure, DISD fell short of keeping "Exemplary" and became a "Recognized" district. DISD still remains one of the highest rated school districts in Navarro County though, tying with the Rice ISD. In 2013, Dawson High School was ranked as one the Nation's Top High Schools when US News did its annual Best High School's report. Dawson High School received a "Bronze" ranking. DHS was the only school in Navarro County to receive this award in the 2013 report.
