David Miller

David Andrew Barclay Miller is the W. M. Keck Foundation Professor of Electrical Engineering at Stanford University, where he is also a Professor of Applied Physics by courtesy.[1] He is a fellow of the Optical Society of America,[2] the American Physical Society,[2] and IEEE.[2]

David A. B. Miller was born on February 19, 1954 in Hamilton in the United Kingdom.[1] After receiving high school education at Perth Academy,[1] he continued his education at St. Andrew's University where he received a B. Sc. in 1976.[1] In 1979, he received a Ph.D. in Physics from Heriot-Watt University for research about nonlinear optical effects.[1]

After receiving his Ph.D, he initially continued to work at Heriot-Watt University where he eventually became a lecturer at the physics department.[2] In 1981, he accepted a position at Bell Labs.[2] Since 1997, he is a professor at Stanford University,[1] where he performs research about optics and optoelectronics.[2]
