Dameon DAE ONE Garrett is an American hip hop producer and recording artist from Hawthorne, California. At the age of 14, he began his musical career by writing and developing his own songs. While attending Hawthorne High School, he received an Akai drum machine where he learned the fine art of beat-making. After graduating from High School, Dae One was discovered by West Coast producing legend DJ Sir Jinx, who took him under his wings and served as a mentor helping him to further develop his producing skills.

2009

DAE ONE connected with Noni Spitz to form the rap duo, No One, releasing The Pre-Substance.[1] The duo released The Clearance [2] on Power 106’s Who’s Next In The Mix website.

2010

Learning from the legends Dae One and his mentor Sir Jinx had the opportunity to work with Hip-Hop icon Ice Cube for his I Am The West [3] album coming up with the banging track, ‘Life in California’, released on the Lench Mob.

Dae One began to gain major recognition in 2010 after his first retail release, the ultra- smooth So Gangsta [4] by American hip hop superstar Snoop Dogg featuring Long Beach crooner Butch Cassidy, giving Snoop an updated G-Funk sound that many of his fans appreciated. The song was featured on Snoops Dogg’s More Malice[5] released on May 23, 2010 on label to universal acclaim.

Garnering a lot of attention as the go to producer for the West Coast sound, Dae One recorded with Maybach Music recording artist Roccett: ‘Be Afraid' [6] featuring Glasses Malone & Jay Rock on the America's Nightmare album. He also produced the radio single ‘Contact’ by El Prez feat. Freddie Gibbs.[7]

2011

In 2011 he began recording material with the Carson-based independent record label Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE) and subsequently he was featured on Schoolboy Q’s debut mixtape Setbacks producing 'Birds & Beez[8] ft. Kendrick Lamar. Building on his relationships with the label, DAE ONE teamed with Jay Rock for his major-label debut album, Follow Me Home, producing 'Say Wassup' [9] ft. Black Hippy. The song is a Black Hippy cult classic and the video captivated fans as it prominently featured Kendrick,Schoolboy Q, Ab-Soul, Jay Rock throughout the music video.[10]

Dedicated to cultivating new outstanding talent DAE ONE, he joined former Big Brother artist Rapper Big Pooh on Lonely Roads ft. Chevy Jones, Oh No & Roc C”[11] for the Dirty Pretty Little Thing album.

By working with such diverse great talent, Dae One can be counted on to deliver any style of Hip-Hop beats whether it’s classic Hip-Hop, gangster funk, club, radio and even R & B. As a result, Snoop Dogg first commissioned Dae One to produce for recording artist Mac Lucci’s Cali Life'’ off the debut project Snoop Dogg Presents: The Pre Hustle.[12]

Connecting with many artists, he connected with Pomona artist, Suga Free and recorded “Succa Repellent”.[13] He also worked with new comers Leimert Park artist Raven Sorvino on ‘Reign Coat’[14] and Inglewood artist 2 Eleven on ‘Traphouse'.[15]

As an artist he was banded together with Bay Area artist Balance recording the album B-DAE[16] with features from Bishop Lamont and Uncle Murda.

After working alongside so many artist, DAE ONE released his ‘Year In Review’ Album feating songs he produced throughout 2011.[17]

2012

Dae One produced for Los Angeles lyricist Mykestro ‘Get in Where I Fit In’ ft. Daz Dillinger & Soopafly on the double disc ‘The Barmittzpha’.[18] And he again worked with Mac Lucci on ‘iHuman’ ft. Alori Joh on the ‘Pre Hustle 2’.[19] The always busy producer, also worked with Doggystyle Records own Snoop Dogg on ‘Keep It Crackn’ ft. Kreyshawn & V- Nasty.[20]

In addition, Dae One launched his True Sounds Producer Showcase[21] event which honored DJ Quik, DJ Battlecat, Terrace Martin, Rick Rock, Focus…, League Of Starz, 1500 or Nothin', Phonix Beats, and more at the legendary Busby East in Hollywood, California. The True Sounds event was also hosted at South By Southwest Music Festival in Austin, Texas 2013.[22]

No One also released their 3rd Album Midnight Selections featuring Terrace Martin. DAE ONE also starred in the independent film “Out On Bail[23] which was shot, edited and directed by James Wade.

2013

New opportunities accelerated and he collaborated with James Wade as the sole producer on International success ‘Medicated & Motivated LP’.[24] While DAE ONE had already worked with several prominent artists in the hip hop industry, he coproduced with David Gold for ‘Blam Blam’ by Daz & WC. Dae One hooked up with Snoop Dogg once again for ‘Bad 4 Me’ – a standout track from The Doggfather’s “That’s My Work Volume 2[25] Mixtape with DJ Drama.

2014

Branching more into co-producing, he coproduced with XXYYXXChilds Play’ for TDE’s new artist SZA feat. Chance the Rapper.

Dae One was also hired by Native Instruments for his use of instruments essential to California hip hop and was featured on the Native Instruments Maschine Expansion Marble Rims v1.0.0 sound kit which included Pattern-based rhythms and Drum samples.

Outside of producing for other artists, Dae One was booked on numerous events at the SXSW Music Festival including the iStandard Music Showcase.[26]

2015

Staying the course of working with new artists, DAE ONE combined with new talent and produced songstress Mickey Taelor’s HiiGrade Vol. 2 on the debut single ft. Richard Wright single, ‘My Mary Jane (DAE ONE Acoustic Remix)’'.[27]

Excitingly, DAE ONE launched his new venture XCVI Recordings. Pronounced 96’ Recordings, DAE ONE will focus on cultivating a music production team. A roster filled with international producers and talent.

In the fall, he also began co-hosting show with Professor KG, a weekly radio show focusing on music production which streams on Live 365.

Collaborating back with his TDE family, he joined forces with Jay Rock for ‘Fly on the Wall’ (feat. Busta Rhymes) on his 2nd major release 90059.

2016

DAE ONE took the lead by making his first business trip to Tokyo, Japan to work with Hip hop artists, DS455.[28]
