Cornelius Boersch

Cornelius Boersch (born April 11, 1968 in Hannover) is a German serial entrepreneur and business angel.

Boersch has been a serial entrepreneur since 1992. He studied business administration at the European Business School in Oestrich-Winkel as well as the Paris Business School and the University of Colorado.[1] In 2001 he completed his PhD at the University of Duisburg-Essen with a thesis on "Mutual savings banks and Venture Capital".[2]

During his studies he founded the predecessor company of ACG AG (Advanced Components Group), a smart card broker and RFID manufacturer, listed on the German stock exchange (NEMAX50) in 1999[1][3] and since renamed AZEGO AG.[4]

In 2000, Boersch won the Deutscher Unternehmerpreis of the Harvard Clubs of Germany.[5]

Since completely retiring from the operational business of ACG AG, Boersch has worked as a venture capital manager. He is a dedicated Business Angel, investing in young companies, primarily in the internet sector, which have included start-ups such as Alando, the forerunner of eBay Germany, and the Scout-Group.[1]

In 2005 he founded Mountain Partners AG with Daniel S. Wenzel.[1] The company has developed into an Asset Management Group with several dedicated investment funds for fast-growing companies such as BuyVIP, Yasni and Smartrac.[6] Boersch has assisted over 200 companies.[7]

In April 2009 he was named "Business Angel of the year" by the European Trade Association for Business Angels and Early Stage Investors (EBAN).[5][7][8][9]
