History

CPEC was founded in 1942 as a manufacturer of gear boxes, and in 1962, it entered into a joint venture with Crofts Engineering Limited (later acquired by Renold plc) to become India's first and largest manufacturer and exporter of transmission gear equipment.[2] CPEC was listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) in 1979.[3]

Solar photovoltaic

Following a management restructuring and sale of its gear manufacturing facilities in 2010, CPEC acquired 140 acres of land in Gujarat, India, and built its first 5 MW solar photovoltaic power plant with a power purchase agreement with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL).[4] Since then, CPEC has built, operated, owned and transferred several solar photovoltaic power plants.
