Christopher Paddie, known as Chris Paddie[1] is the current Texas state representative for District 9.[1] He serves on the Energy Resources and Land & Resource Management committees.[1]
Service
Paddie is a former mayor, and city commissioner of Marshall in Harrison County and the current general manager of KMHT radio, for which he hosts a daily talk show.[1] He has never voted to raise taxes while on the city commission. As mayor he worked to make the city fiscally sound during the national recession.[1] He is the former chairman of the Greater Marshall Chamber of Commerce and president of the Boys and Girls Club of the Big Pines.[1]
Political views
Paddie is considered a fiscal and social conservative Republican.[1] He voted for the pro-life SB5 to ban abortions after twenty weeks and require doctors to be registered at hospitals within thirty miles of their office.[2]
Personal Life
Chris Paddie was born in Center, Texas and raised in Carthage. He graduated from Carthage High School and went on to graduate from Texas A&M University with a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Distribution. [3]
After graduation, Chris moved to Houston where he worked selling safety equipment and industrial products. Chris worked with numerous businesses, ranging from small businesses to national corporations, to provide efficient and affordable solutions for construction projects. While in Houston, Chris married Brooke Hanszen, his high school sweetheart. [3]
Chris and Brooke returned home to East Texas and settled in Marshall, where Chris became the general manager of the KMHT radio station. [3]
Chris was elected to the Marshall City Commission in 2008. Chris was selected by his colleagues to be Mayor of Marshall. On the Commission and as Mayor, Chris was known for his honesty, steadfast leadership and his strong conservative values, as well as his ability to work with all parties. [3]
Chris was first elected to the Texas House, District 9, in November 2012 and was reelected to a second term in November 2014. [3]
