Chiesa della Panaghia

Coordinates: 39°34′31″N 16°38′11″E / 39.575144°N 16.636524°E / 39.575144; 16.636524 Panaghia is a little Byzantine church situated in the old town centre of Rossano, in Italy.

The etymology of the word Panaghia.

In English the word is spelled "Panagia" and derives from the ancient Greek pan- (whole) and ághios (holy). Thus, Panagia means "All-Holy".

Description of the building.

The little church was built in the 11th century; it has got just one nave and an apse with a mullioned window. Inside the church there are two frescoes: one picturing Basil of Caesarea and the latter (XIV century) John Chrysostom.[1]
