Late afternoon in Ceibas.

Ceibas is a village and municipality in Entre Ríos Province in north-eastern Argentina.[1] It is split in two halves by Ruta Nacional 12, while Ruta Nacional 14 (Argentina's main road to Brazil) starts here. The village is totally dominated by this large and important highway junction.

Ceibas, is a very birdy area mostly savanna and some waterbirds and a great destination, and perhaps the best scenery. If you take pictures, because the flooding there are very few population and birds are very confident. Less than 2 hours north of Buenos Aires you get to this typical cattle raising area, undeveloped, open, with diverse habitats and a very rich birdlife. Mostly a savanna with scattered thorny (Acacia type) trees and patches of humid grassland (the famous "Pampas"), reedbeds and riverside native forest. Miles of dirt roads allow easy birding, alternating walking and driving, and also spotting birds from the car. The area is markedly “wild” with abundant fauna and good levels of activity even in midday and every season. BIRDS: Raptors, herons and storks, woodpeckers and many species of passerines, like furnariids, tyrants, finches and blackbirds among a lot more birds. The list of 350 species include two possible Readhaunters (Ccurved and Straight billed), both endemics, and the endangered saffron-cowled blackbird (Xanthopsar flavus), plus vWhistling Heron, Gretaer Rhea, Savanna Hawk, Snail Kite, Southern Screamer, several duck species, White Fronted Woodpecker, Scimitar Billed Woodcreeper, Brown Cacholote, Tufted Tit Spinetail, Chotoy Spinteail, White Monjita, Red Crested Cardinal, Sayaca Tanager, Chestnut Capped Blackbird, and cuckoos, tinamous, hummingbirds, etc. You can see more information and map at http://www.buenosdiasbirding.com/trip/buenos-aires-1-2-or-more-days

Ceibas lies 156 km from Buenos Aires.
