Cathal Barrett is an Irish sportsperson. He plays hurling with his local club Holycross-Ballycahill and with the Tipperary senior inter-county team since 2014.
Personal Life
Cathal also has a cousin Robbie Barrett, who was in the Forbes Rich list 2014 and 2015 and is an All Ireland arm wrestling champion 2016. He also beat Conor Mcgregor in an MMA bout before Mcgregor became famous.
Career
He played in the All-Ireland Minor Hurling Championship for Tipperary in 2010 and 2011 and played in the All-Ireland Under-21 Hurling Championship in 2012, 2013 & 2014
He was named in the Tipperary squad for the 2014 National Hurling League and made his league debut on 15 February against Waterford.[1][2]
Barrett made his championship debut for Tipperary on 1 June 2014 in the Munster Championship against Limerick, starting at right corner back in a 2-18 to 2-16 defeat.[3]
In October 2014, Barrett was named as the All Stars Young Hurler of the Year for 2014.[4]
On 4 September 2016, Barrett won his first All-Ireland Senior hurling title when Tipperary defeated Kilkenny in the final by 2-29 to 2-20.[5][6]
