Carolyn Blanchard Allen

Carolyn Blanchard Allen (born June 13, 1921) is a former member of the Wisconsin State Assembly.

Biography

Allen was born on June 13, 1921 in Cambridge, Wisconsin.[1] She would graduate from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her first husband, David, was Speaker of the Wisconsin State Assembly. After his death, she was remarried to Malcolm V. Allen.[2]

Career

Allen was first elected to the Assembly in 1963 in a special election to fill the vacancy caused by the death of her first husband. She was the first Wisconsin woman to be elected via a special election. Allen was later re-elected in 1964, 1966 and 1968. She is a Republican.
