The Regiment is the heir of Squadroni War, assigned to the protection of King Carlo Alberto during the First War of Independence, Pastrengo April 30, 1848 saved the sovereign by the Austrians, by implementing what has gone down in history as the Charge of Pastrengo.

In memory of those events, during the 115th anniversary of fact, the President of the Republic Carlo Azeglio Ciampi has granted the department the banner of war.

The Carabinieri Regiment is very popular especially for their famous historic carousel that reaches its climax when they relive the same charge Pastrengo divided into two teams (one mounted on white horses, another on dark horses) and throw the one the each other with the sword stopping a few inches from contact.
