Biznews

Of the various electronic news services and print publications around the world that use the name Biznews, by far the largest is the weekly Spanish-language business newspaper Biznews North Mexico published from Monterrey and distributed throughout northern Mexico.

Launched in 1999, Biznews is distributed in the states of Baja California, Sonora, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo León and Tamaulipas, as well as Mexico City. The newspaper is also distributed in the southern portion of the four US states that share the border with Mexico (California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas.
The six northern states of Mexico produce a full 25% of the country's Gross Domestic Product and are home to approximately 17% of the country's population. Biznews is the region's main source of business information. Coincidentally, the four southwestern states of the USA produce 25% of that nation's GDP.

Biznews was operated until 2005 by the company Business Communications Group, at which time the original partners, Canadian citizen Luke Betts and Mexican national Carlos Chávez de Icaza, decided to split the company's assets.
Ownership and operation of Biznews was taken over by Monterrey-based company Business News Group, owned by Betts. The remainder of the original company's operations (principally commercial representation of national media), was taken over by Chavez's new company Commercial Media Bizcom, which is based in Mexico City and is the commercial representative for Biznews in the Mexican capital.
Among its awards, Biznews won the 2000 "Media of the Year" award designated by Mexico's advertising and marketing magazine NEO.

Other media companies around the world going by the name Biznews include a British weekly email newsletter containing news for businesses, primarily for those based in the NorthEast of England.
